Public Hearing Wednesday, October 7, 6:45 pm

The information on how to call in is on our board meeting page.

The public hearing is time certain at 6:45. Those signed up before noon on the day of the meeting will receive a call in number shortly before the start of the hearing.

A Service Area Master Plan is a process that engages the community to:

  • Take a complete look at all outdoor park assets: fields, playgrounds, paths, etc. (Recreation center buildings are not included in this Master Plan. They are part of RecQuest.)
  • Create improvement plans for each neighborhood park
  • Guide decisions on capital improvements, how to spend NPP20 funding, land acquisition, and development of new parks.
  • Set a vision for operations, management, and improvements
  • Set priorities and estimate budgets

The Southwest Service Area Master Plan (SW Parks Plan) will include all neighborhood parks south of I-394 and west of I-35W, including small triangle park properties. In all, 43 park properties are included in the SW Parks Plan project. Please view the service area map under “Key Documents” to see all of the park properties involved in the project. The SW Parks Plan will not include regional parks such as Minneapolis Chain of Lakes Regional Park (including Brownie, Cedar, Lake of the Isles, Bde Maka Ska, and Harriet) nor regional trails (Kenilworth, Cedar Lake, and Minnehaha Parkway) because these parks and trails are required by the Metropolitan Council to have their own, separate master plans.
