Previously, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board offered multiple options to families needing financial assistance. However, these options led to confusion when registering for programs. To create a more straightforward, inclusive, and accessible model, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is introducing a new Citywide Program Discount Fee Structure. This new approach ensures that all young people and Minneapolis residents enrolled in 55+ programs have access to enriching programs, regardless of financial barriers or proximity to select recreation centers.
- Discounts are based on yearly household income and family size.
- The program’s actual cost is listed first, but families/residents can choose a discount that reduces the fee to better align with their financial situation.
- When families/residents participate as they are able at all levels, the whole program becomes self-sustaining and continues to support all youth and Minneapolis residents enrolled in 55+ programs citywide.
