Youth Gardens

Neighborhood parks throughout Minneapolis feature gardens and related programs designed for, with and by youth. From clubs to classes to themed gardens like Whittier Park’s salsa garden, activities for youth of all ages and abilities center on planting, maintaining, harvesting, preparing and sharing produce, herbs and flowers.

2024 Youth Garden locations

Bryant Square, Central Gym, Creekview, Hiawatha School, Linden Hills, Luxton, Morris, Stewart, and Whittier:
These parks have youth gardens for general participation.
Armatage, Bryant Square, Matthews and Sibley parks:
Children enrolled in MPRB’s Rec Plus School-Age Childcare program tend gardens in these parks and use or donate the produce
Pershing* and Fuller parks:
Rec Plus kids and volunteers from neighborhood-based stewardship groups tend these gardens
Lake Nokomis, McRae, Phillips, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, East Phillips and Phelps parks:
Neighborhood-based stewardship groups tend the gardens at these locations and donate the produce
