If conditions are so hazardous that an emergency has been declared by the MPRB, Rec Plus may close due to severe weather and/or snowstorms.  

Rec Plus provides school-age childcare for children in grades K-6 at neighborhood recreation centers. Rec Plus operates before and after school, on school release days and during the summer, depending on recreation center. Activities include games and sports, arts and crafts, homework help, field trips and nutritious snacks. Must register at Rec Plus location (no online registration). Please contact the recreation center for availability.

Recreation Fee Assistance

Minneapolis residents who cannot afford instructional fees because of economic need may apply for fee assistance through the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Fee Assistance Program.
Qualifying families may also apply through the Hennepin County Child Care Assistance program.

Children may take a bus from their school to Rec Plus if it is located within the busing zone. Contact your transportation company directly for details. If a site is full, call to get on the waiting list.

2018-2019 fees listed below. Rec Plus has a nonrefundable annual registration fee of $35 per child, in addition to daily fees. Daily fees are listed per child. Rates determined by school start and end times. Rec Plus has a nonrefundable registration annual fee of $35 per child. Minimum enrollment of 12 days during summer.

School Release Days

Release Days are an option for all children (including those not enrolled in Rec Plus) who only need childcare on School Release days. Activities include arts and crafts, sports, field trips, theme days, and much more. Space is limited and you can register thirty days in advance at your preferred location. Registration is on a first come first serve basis and space is limited. Registration closes two weeks prior to the release day unless space permits. Payment due upon registration. If a site is listed as full, that does not apply to school release days.
