Project History
2017 – Aging play equipment was demolished and the site became a staging area for the major I-35W re-construction project
2017 – Skate Park Activity Plan Approved
2020 – Southwest Service Area master Plan Approved
2022 – I-35W Project Construction Complete
2022 – MPRB and MnDOT Begin Land Acquisition Process for 28th St Tot Lot Site
Funding
28th St Tot Lot Park was allotted $200,000 in CIP (Capital Improvement Project) funding for park improvements and currently represents the total budget for the project. This funding will go towards staff, consultant time, community engagement, design, and construction.
MPRB staff will collaborate with MnDOT for park landscaping and City of Skate for skatepark improvements. MPRB staff will continue to seek funding and partnership opportunities throughout the project
