22 additional wading pools at “school-site” locations – that is, sites shared with Minneapolis Public Schools buildings. (All other locations opened May 27.)

School-site locations with wading pools include Hall and Harrison parks (North Minneapolis), Waite and Jackson Square parks (Northeast), Peavey and Morris parks (upper and lower South) and Whittier and Kenny parks (upper and lower Southwest).

  • Open 10am to 7pm* daily
  • Free to use
  • No lifeguards: please keep safety in mind while enjoying the wading pools
  • Final day of the season is Monday, September 4 (Labor Day holiday)

Saturday, June 17: Expanded lifeguard hours begin at two beaches

Lifeguards on duty from 1 pm to 7 pm daily at Lake Nokomis Main Beach and Wirth Lake Beach, through Sunday August 20 (post-season hours through Monday, September 4).

General beach hours: 6 am to 10 pm daily at all 12 locations:

Map shows water quality testing dates and results; beach closures and re-openings based on water-quality tests; and temporary or seasonal closures for maintenance, repairs or construction.

Long-term stormwater management is one key to keeping lake water quality suitable for recreation and for sustaining plants and wildlife. MPRB is seeking dedicated funding to invest in stormwater management and protect Minneapolis lakes.
