Pay & Display Kiosks

  1. Insert cash or insert card face up and remove quickly. Meter does not provide change.
  2. Press yellow value button to add more time.
  3. Press green button to complete transaction and print receipt.
  4. Visibly display receipt inside of vehicle on dashboard face up.

Multi-Space Meters

  • Option 1 – Pay at parking kiosk
  • Option 2 – Pay by phone with ParkMobile App (multi-space stick spaces only, space numbers beginning with a 9 followed by 4 digits, e.g. 90054)
    • Download the phone app from the App Store or Google Play (also available on Amazon, Windows, and Blackberry)
    • Register yourself with ParkMobile
    • Park your car, type in the space/zone number, select the duration, and start your parking by completing the transaction. Your credit card will be charged at this point.
    • $0.25 per transaction fee for the service, or $0.15/transaction if you sign up for the $0.99/month preferred membership

Coin Meters

  • Park in an open space
  • Feed the meter with coins to the desired time period
  • Take note of how much parking time you have left to avoid a ticket!

Pay On Mobile App

  • To pay your parking at one of our on-street kiosks, please download the MPLSParking or Parkmobile app from the App Store or Google Play (also available for Windows, Blackberry, and Amazon based devices).
  • Create your free account linked to an email address, vehicle license plate (you can add more than one!), and a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover) or PayPal.
  • Enter your space number (5 digit number beginning with a 9)
  • Select parking duration from the list
  • Confirm and pay for your space with the credit card registered to your app

Event/Contract Parking

Event Parking

MPRB parking operations manages event parking throughout the year for one-time, recurring, and ongoing events.  2018 Event parking will including automated (pay at the meter) event rates, and staffed tailgating events:

  • All event parking is first come, first serve.
  • No refunds given.
  • For cash only events, change is available.

Annual Patron Permit

First Permit
$35 Adult
$30 Adult 62+

Permit Fees

Second Permit (for an additional vehicle owned by a valid permit holder)
Same fee if purchased at a later date.
$20 Adult
$15 Adult 62+

You cannot purchase a second permit to replace an expiring permit on a vehicle - renewing an expired permit is the same price as the first permit.

Replacement Permit
Issued when you return original permit and replacement fee. Expires the same month as original purchase.

Good to Know

Each permit is linked to a license plate number. As we transition to a license plate based validation system in 2018 (for pay lots and permits), permit holders with incomplete or incorrect license plate information may receive a citation. Permit holders are responsible for providing and maintaining accurate license plate information.

Permit valid only when affixed to inside lower right corner (passenger side) of windshield by its own adhesive.

Permit is non-transferable.

How to Buy a Parking Permit Online

Effective 2018, there will be an interim process in place to purchase annual parking permits.

The interim system for purchasing permits will be done through our Active Communities system, the same system used for program registrations, gift card sales, and most other transactions with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board.

Options to Renew or Purchase

Note: License plate information is required at the time of purchase.

  • Online:
    • Visit our Active Communities website
    • Log in to the Active Communities site or create an account (top right of webpage)
    • On the top menu bar, click on Passes
    • On the list of passes, locate Annual Parking Permit and select the option that applies to your request; click Add to Cart
    • Follow prompts to enter license plate information and then Proceed to Checkout
      • Form of payment: All major credit cards accepted
