The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has been collaborating with the Cleveland Park community and stakeholders for a new phase of improvements at the park, following the improvements constructed in 2020. Thanks to everyone who shared input so far!
Based on that community engagement and other factors, the project team has created a final concept plan for improvements (a detail from the plan is shown above).
Improvements in the final plan include:
- New planted natural areas
- Full and half-size basketball courts
- Small Bankshot-style court
- 1 large multi-use field
- Ninja course
- Outdoor athletic equipment
- Path and other site improvements
- Updated picnic area
- Upgrades for lighting and security
- Amphitheater (as funding allows)
What’s next?
Everyone is encouraged to review the plan and provide feedback up until or at the public hearing on March 4. See details on the hearing below.
After the hearing, Park Board commissioners will vote on whether to approve the plan.
If the plan is approved, construction contractors will then bid on a detailed version of it.
Construction is anticipated to begin later in 2025.
