East River Parkway Slope Failure Update
Posted on 6 February, 2020The MPRB and the University of Minnesota have cooperatively completed a round of topological surveying along the river bank and bluff between the no. 9 bridge and East River Flats Park and a detailed scan of the slope failure site north of the Washington Avenue Bridge. The survey and scan are the beginning data points for a series of yearly surveys to record the bluff’s surface. This work is meant to monitor the surface over time and is not intended to be a warning system.
Work is underway to develop a permanent solution to stabilize the slope failure site and to safely maintain vehicle, bus, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic along the parkway.
