Thanks to everyone who weighed in on upcoming improvements at Franklin Steele Square Park.
The project team has worked hard to review the issues and feedback the community shared over the past month.
Based on that feedback, the team has prepared two design options to share with the community.
As you review the design options – see details below – please share what you like and don’t like about each one (rather than choosing one over the other). The design team will consider all feedback when developing a final design.
Both design options include:
- New full basketball court
- Expanded community gardens: additional beds, paths
- New playground in southeast area of the park
- Variations on a challenge course
- Variations on expanded paths through and around the park
Design Concept A also features a new youth soccer field with lawn space and flexible seating for spectators; and a challenge course for youth as part of the new playground.
Design Concept B also features a flexible-use lawn/playing field; an updated and expanded splashpad; a challenge course for adults and youth, with a timed 40-yard dash feature; and outdoor yard games.
