November 18, 2022: Funded by the 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) renovated and repaired sport courts at 12 neighborhood park locations in 2022.
The courts all had new color coating and line striping, with some requiring a new asphalt overlay or a more intensive full-depth renovation, where the entire court surface, net/posts and fencing are replaced.
Types and locations of the repaired courts
- Basketball courts at Bryant Square*, Elliot, Fuller*, East Phillips, Mueller, Sibley, Lake Hiawatha, Matthews*, Powderhorn and Riverside parks
- Tennis courts at Northeast Park, Matthews*, Powderhorn (other funding used for repairs at regional parks: Beard’s Plaisance, Lake Hiawatha, Minnehaha Creek/Bloomington Ave.*)
- Pickleball at the Nokomis Park neighborhood location (completion spring 2023), McRae Park. In addition, pickleball striping was added at locations listed above and marked with a [*]. More info at Pickleball Locations and Leagues and Pickleball Plan Amendments.
- Bike polo at Central Gym Park
