Project Milestones

2024 Construction Schedule:

  • Week of April 22: Removals of the asphalt in front of the Rec Center building.
  • April 23 – May 28: Construction of concrete paths, furnishing installation, stormwater basin, landscaping, and site restoration.
  • June 3 – 6: Project Completion
  • Week of June 10: Grand Opening (TBD)

Anticipated Phase 1 Implementation Schedule:

  • Community Engagement around Project Prioritization: Spring/Summer 2021
  • Community Engagement on Design: Winter – Summer 2022
  • Final concept – Board approval: Summer 2022
  • Schematic Design- Construction Documents: Fall 2022 – Winter 2023
  • Bidding: Winter – Spring 2023
  • Construction: Late Summer – Fall 2023

History

On September 28, 2016, the South Service Area Master Plan was approved by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board of Commissioners. The master plan for Sibley Park is included in the overall service area master plan.
