History
The MPRB created a Feasibility Study in 2021 for two railroad crossing locations along the west bank of the Mississippi River in North Minneapolis. The locations are generally located near 26th Avenue North and 41st Avenue North. Each location suggests a route along the west bank of the river and under railroad bridges to create contiguous trail segments within Above the Falls Regional Park.
The location at 26th Avenue North connects 26th Avenue North Overlook to Orvin “Ole” Oslon Park. It is this segment that is funded and undergoing design work and construction over the next two years. The segment near 41st Avenue is not funded and will be explored further in later phases of trail development.
