Background and Funding
Background
In 2014, MPRB suffered severe infrastructure damage at two golf courses as a result of heavy rainfall. That storm event was declared a disaster by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA DR‐4182). MPRB subsequently applied for and received FEMA approval in fall 2018 for alternative projects due to delays in the planning process for repairs and improvements at Hiawatha Golf Course.
The resulting alternative projects are as follows:
- Francis A. Gross National Golf Course Clubhouse Re-Roofing and Window Improvements: Replaces the wood shake roof with new architectural shingles and replaces some windows.
- Theodore Wirth Golf Club Skid Pump Replacement Project: Installation of two new pumps used for golf course irrigation and snow making operations, a new pump mounting and control skid, new roof hatch, and updated electrical infrastructure.
- Theodore Wirth Chalet Water Intrusion Project: Exterior masonry and concrete work to mitigate water intrusion and interior finish work to repair water damage.
- Theodore Wirth Golf Club Trail Project: Multiple segments of existing cart path will be replaced to provide safe conditions for use and promote accessibility.
