MPRB announces fall hours, programming information for recreation centers

Starting September 7, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) will open all 47 recreation centers for registered and ActivePass programs only, with outdoor programs as scheduled.

MPRB leadership continues to monitor CDC and MDH guidelines, and will allow full use of recreation centers as soon as it is possible to do so safely. Detailed information on recreation centers, programming, hours and room rentals is below.

September 7 recreation center openings and hours

Fall programs: Registration and ActivePass

  • Indoor programs require either registration or an ActivePass; outdoor programs may require registration or be available on a drop-in basis.
  • Browse and register for programs with MPRB’s Activity Search; in some cases, it may be possible to register at the recreation center when a program begins.
  • ActivePass programs (Open Gym, Open Computer Labs, Nite Owlz and more) do not require registration, but participants must check in with a free ActivePass. Contact any recreation center to arrange for a free ActivePass.
  • Drop-in programs are not scheduled inside recreation centers and drop-in visits are not permitted. There is no general public access to recreation centers until further notice.

Room rentals at recreation centers

Multipurpose rooms and community rooms at recreation centers are available to rent for parties, showers, seminars, meetings, celebrations and other private events. Room rental hours are 3 to 9pm Mondays through Fridays and 12 to 6pm Saturdays; hours for room rentals on Sundays depend on staff availability. Renters must provide a Pandemic Preparedness Plan, adhere to room capacity and follow requirements for face coverings and any other current policies. More info
