Role Summary
Role may include but is not limited to: leading/assisting/planning activities and programs, providing safe dependable childcare for school age children, supervising youth and communicating with parents and staff, providing front desk support to greet and assist customers that are using the facility.

Job Duties
- Lead structured and non‐structured recreation, arts, and sports activities/programs.
- Help create a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for children and clients at Minneapolis Park and Recreation centers.
- Ensure the environment and recreation-based curriculum provides learning experiences to meet each customer needs.
- Greet and assist customers at the front desk or over the phone.
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must pass a background check
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and group settings
- Motivate and mentor youth showing flexibility, creativity, and communication skills
- Work effectively with diverse cultural and socioeconomic demographics
- Work in a team environment; demonstrate flexibility and patience in adapting to changing situations
- Maintain composure and professionalism in sometimes chaotic or stressful situations
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and complete physical tasks (lift, carry, pull, etc.)
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environment
Background Check
We conduct a background check. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be asked to sign an informed consent allowing the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to obtain their criminal history in connection with the positions sought. View the MPRB Background Check Policy [PDF]. The MPRB will be in compliance with Minnesota’s Department of Human Services fingerprinting requirements.
Compensation
Pay rate is $16.45-23.00/hour depending on qualifications and experience. You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
Hours
10-40/week – 7 days/week. Times vary based on program and include evenings and weekends.
