Role Summary
Pop Up Camps Monday – Thursday 2:00-7:00pm
Neighborhood Day Camps Tuesday – Thursday 9:30am – 5:30pm
June 8 – August 28, 2026
Various locations in Minneapolis weekly or daily. Must have access to reliable transportation.
Receive training in and assist with:
- Planning, preparing and leading fun, hands-on, nature-based summer day camp sessions that promote high-quality, outdoor educational and recreational experiences for campers ages 8-13.
- Overseeing campers’ safety and well-being, while helping to facilitate their interactions with others and their surroundings using MPRB’s principles of respect and responsibility.
- Providing high-quality customer service and communication with parents/guardians and positive relationships with campers.
- Engaging and encouraging campers in learning and positive experiences.
- Cleaning up at the end of each day.
- Performing related work as assigned.
Participate in employment and work readiness trainings as assigned by Youth Employment and Training staff.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Interest in working with children
- English proficiency
- Ability to move around freely in the parks and be outside for the duration of the workday.
Minimum Qualifications
- Be 18-24 years old
- Some job experience
- Have reliable transportation to get to assigned worksites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some experience working with or managing children
Background Check
We conduct a background check. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be asked to sign an informed consent allowing the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to obtain their criminal history in connection with the positions sought. Compensation and Benefits
$18 per hour.
You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
