Role Summary
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is seeking a Park Market Lead for the summer market series at Minnehaha Falls and Lake Harriet. The Park Market Lead will:
- Manage scheduling and communicate logistics with vendors in advance of market.
- Cultivate and maintain supportive relationships with vendors, demonstrating familiarity with their products and practices
- Troubleshoot, solve problems, and resolve conflicts presented by vendors.
- Implement MPRB’s vendor policies and procedures and assist vendors in complying with laws, regulations, and best practices related to the sale of their products.
- Accurately communicate vendor attendance, shopper counts, market logistics to staff, volunteers, and the public.
- Ensure the transportation of all necessary equipment and supplies to the market, verifying they’re in good working condition.
- Oversee a complete and visually appealing market set-up and tear-down, prioritizing safety, accessibility, and effective trash removal.
- Collaborate with Community Events staff to curate balanced and successful marketplace.
- Direct the safe flow of traffic for vehicles operating on and around the market site.
- Promote inclusivity within our markets and culture by fostering positive relationships
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license, clear driving record and reliable transportation
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Excellent customer service skills, positive attitude, and adaptability
- Must be able to consistently arrive to programs prepared and on-time per schedule
- Must be able to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision
- Ability to foster and maintain a diverse, culturally competent, and respectful atmosphere within the market.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in the management of markets, events, or coordination of outdoor recreation programs or facilities.
- Ability to utilize spreadsheets, desktop publishing tools, and databases for efficient data management and reporting.
- Familiarity with marketing strategies, recreational programming concepts, and event planning principles
Background Check
We conduct a background check. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be asked to sign an informed consent allowing the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to obtain their criminal history in connection with the positions sought. Compensation and Benefits
$22.00-$26.00 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement when applicable.
You are eligible to receive sick and safe time per the Minneapolis City Ordinance and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time, and will earn one (1) hour of sick and safe leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Public employees will be enrolled in statutorily required Public Employers Retirement Association (PERA) pension contributions if/when eligible. This position is not eligible for other benefits.
Hours
This position will be responsible for the summer Park Market at Minnehaha Falls on Fridays and Lake Harriet on Sundays. Position requires working Fridays 1:30pm – 9:00pm and Sundays 11:30am – 8:00pm during market season of June 5 – September 6, 2026.
Work schedule also includes approximately 8 hours weekly for administrative tasks beginning in early May which are to occur at and during general operating hours of MPRB Headquarters Monday – Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
