Role Summary
- Ensure a safe environment for all park users by providing education about MPRB policies and procedures.
- Prepare court / field space for games and/or programs.
- Act immediately to address inappropriate behaviors by contacting appropriate staff or other emergency personnel as necessary.
- Monitor activities and attendance on grounds; write incident reports and recommendation reports related to park use.
- Ensure amenities are being utilized by scheduled user groups and programs.
- Monitor daily park outdoor recreation activities and operations.
- Promote recreational opportunities on site and provide information about park facilities and programs.
- Recruit officials and program staff through conversations with participants and general public patrons.
- Report any facility or participant issues to supervisor.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and best practices of customer service.
- Knowledge of principles and best practices of working with a diverse customer base.
- Knowledge or an ability to learn rules of athletic programs offered and league/event gameday protocols.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Ability to adapt to busy and changing environments and conditions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule May through September.
Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience involving extensive interaction with the public
- Must pass a background check.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with a diverse community using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to perform assigned work independently and responsibly, as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in parks, recreation, events, tourism, hospitality.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Background investigation
Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant will be asked to sign an informed consent allowing the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to obtain their criminal history in connection with the positions sought.
Compensation and Benefits
$17-$20 per game. Non-benefited position, contracted employee.
Hours
5-30 hours per week, primarily evenings or Sunday afternoons/evenings. Employment from April-November.
