Contractors for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) are preparing for the construction phase on improvements projects at both Whittier Park and Clinton Field Park.

Construction at Whittier Park begins the week of June 16 and will follow at Clinton Field Park at the end of June or in early July. Barring delays due to construction or weather, work at both parks is expected to be complete in the fall.

Improvements coming to Whittier Park include:

  • plaza with benches under existing large shade trees
  • new play area for 2-5yr olds with expanded area for swings
  • new and additional play equipment for the 5-12 yr old play area
  • multiuse fenced court for futsal, basketball, and other hard-surface activities
  • third hoop for additional basketball play
  • upgraded park amenities: pedestrian lights, picnic tables, benches, bike racks, stormwater management and walking paths

At Clinton Field Park, a new futsal court (image below) will be constructed on the east side of the park off Fourth Avenue South.
