Lyndale Farmstead Lead Summer Camp Instructor

Role Summary: Role may include but is not limited to leading, planning activities and programs, providing safe dependable childcare for school age children, supervising youth, and communicating with parents and staff, providing front desk support to greet and assist customers that are using the facility.

Compensation: $18 – $22/per hour, depending on education and experience.

This position is eligible for sick and safe leave in accordance with the Minneapolis Sick and Safe Time Ordinance.

Hours: 20 – 25 hours per week. Monday – Thursday 12:30pm – 5:30pm.

Dates: Camps start June 24 and end August 22 (no camp 4^th of July week). 1^st day of Work June 19.

Job Duties:

• Lead structured and non‐structured recreation, arts, and sports activities/programs.
• Help create a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for children and clients at Minneapolis Park and Recreation centers.
• Ensure the environment and recreation-based curriculum provides learning experiences to meet each customer needs.
• Greet and assist customers.
• Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must pass a background check.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and group settings.
• Motivate and mentor youth showing flexibility, creativity, and communication skills.
• Work effectively with diverse cultural and socioeconomic demographics.
• Work in a team environment; demonstrate flexibility and patience in adapting to changing situations.
• Maintain composure and professionalism in sometimes chaotic or stressful situations.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and complete physical tasks (lift, carry, pull, etc.)
• Work in both indoor and outdoor environment.
