You’re invited: public hearing on Jan. 16 for North Minneapolis neighborhood park plansPosted on 8 January, 2019
Following the public hearing, plans for the future of all North Minneapolis neighborhood parks will be considered for approval!
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has scheduled a public hearing on Wednesday, January 16 for individuals who would like to speak to the Board of Commissioners about the North Service Area Master Plan (NSAMP).
NSAMP includes long-term plans for 31 neighborhood parks and three regional trails in North Minneapolis. It is the result of nearly two years of community-based engagement, planning and design, which had MPRB staff working with with individuals, neighborhood groups and community organizations throughout North Minneapolis. Based on the recommendations of an appointed Community Advisory Committee, NSAMP sets a vision for the improvement, operation, and management of all neighborhood parks in North Minneapolis over the next 20 to 30 years.
After NSAMP’s approval, MPRB can move forward on projects at a number of Northside parks – starting with Cleveland Park, Farview Park, Folwell Park , Lovell Square Park and Perkins Hill Park – that have been funded through the 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan.
Watch for a follow-up announcement next week when the final version of NSAMP is posted on the MPRB website, allowing people to review park plans before the public hearing. After the hearing, the Board’s Planning Committee will consider approval of NSAMP, and the full board could consider its approval at its February 6 meeting.
