Thanks to everyone who weighed in last year on initial concept designs for improvements at the park!
Project staff used the community’s input and recommendations to develop a final concept design for the project.
It upgrades existing park amenities based on the long-term plan for Audubon Park (part of East of the River Service Area Master Plan for all neighborhood parks in Northeast/Southeast Minneapolis, available here).
This phase of improvments at Audubon Park includes:
- universal design playground with new play equipment and resilient surface
- Upgrading the existing tennis courts for pickleball, ecuavolley, and futsal
- Resurfacing the existing basketball court
- upgrades to paths and lighting to improve accessibility and safety
What happens next?
Vote: Commissisoners for the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) will vote on approving the final concept plan at their regular Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 5.
Bid: Contractors will bid on constructing these improvements in March/April.
Construction: Work in the park is anticipated to begin by the end of June, barring delays due to weather or the construction bid process.
