At about 8 pm on March 25, 2026, Park Police officers responded to a report of shots fired at Folwell Park. Multiple shots were exchanged between at least two suspects. No one was immediately taken into custody and no injuries were reported on March 25.
Park Police processed the scene and collected evidence, including numerous bullet casings near the basketball court.

Update, April 3, 2026
On April 2, 2026, members of the Park Police Department apprehended Jakai Teajai Rice in connection with the shooting at Folwell Park. On April 3, 2026, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office charged Rice with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, a felony crime. Rice is currently in custody.
