At 4:00 pm on Feb. 13, 2026, Minneapolis Park Police responded to a report of an adult male who fell through ice on the Mississippi River near East River Flats Park.
A woman attempted to help the man but also fell through the ice. She made it back to shore.
Multiple local public safety organizations are coordinated a search for the man, including Minneapolis Park Police, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol, Minneapolis Police, University of Minnesota Police, and Minneapolis Fire.
Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol recovered the body on Feb. 14. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the person.
