Public hearing scheduled Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the Board Room at Mary Merrill MPRB Headquarters, 2117 West River Road
A public hearing on the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) Plan for Cedar Lake and Lake of the Isles (Cedar-Isles Plan) is scheduled Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the Board Room at Mary Merrill MPRB Headquarters, 2117 West River Road.
The Cedar-Isles Plan outlines long-term strategies to maintain and improve Cedar Lake, Lake of the Isles, Dean Parkway and a portion of Cedar Lake Regional Trail. Multiple drafts of the plan were created and refined based on thousands of comments received throughout more than three years of work on the plan.
A Community Advisory Committee (CAC) comprised of people appointed by MPRB staff and commissioners met 13 times (along with seven combined meetings for two CAC Subcommittees) to vet and refine ideas incorporated in the Cedar-Isles Plan. The final plan document is based on final CAC recommendations and feedback received during a formal 45-day public comment period that ended in March.
The final Cedar-Isles Plan, pending any amendments passed by MPRB Commissioners, will be posted on the Cedar-Isles Plan project page on Friday, June 16. The MPRB Planning Committee will consider the plan on June 21 following public hearing. If it passes out of the Planning Committee, the plan would be scheduled to be considered by the full Board of Park Commissioners for final approval at their next meeting, July 5, 2023.
