Peavey Park improvements – October progress update

Phase 1 Construction

The asphalt courts for the basketball complex have been completed, along with the asphalt paths and concrete walks. The rain garden and tree plantings will be complete this week as well. Due to the colder temperatures, court surfacing, site furnishings and basketball hoops will be installed spring of 2018. The basketball courts should be open to the public by June, 2018.

Phase 2 Design

The park’s new playground, multi-use athletic field, site grading, lighting and new paths are all taking shape. The playground design, guided by community input, will be brought to the MPRB Board of Commissioners for a public hearing later in 2017.

In addition, work has begun to include a new picnic shelter as part of the Phase 2 improvements; MPRB staff are coordinating with the Ventura Village and Phillips West neighborhood organizations. Phase 2 construction is anticipated to begin in May, 2018.
