Partnership with Hennepin Country for Exterior Improvements

The Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) has partnered with Hennepin County to repair and replace siding on the Ard Godfrey House exterior. Project work will be done by participants in the County’s Community Productive Day Program (CPDP), managed by the Client and Community Restoration division of the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation. CPDP participants earn a livable wage while learning transferable skills; those who successfully complete on-the-job training and off-site classroom curriculum earn a certificate in general carpentry skills and are eligible for union jobs.

Work on the Godfrey House exterior requires special procedures due to the presence of lead-based paint. Therefore, CPDP participants assigned to this project have received advance training and Lead Renovator certification and will use personal protective equipment designed for lead abatement. In addition, all work on site will be supervised by Hennepin County staff certified in lead paint abatement.

Support for this pilot project includes funding from MPRB’s 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan.
