Feb. 22, 2026 – Park Police responded to smoke coming out of a small cave on West River Road (just north of 4th Street South) downtown. The smoke is like a campfire and was noticed by Park Police during routine patrol. Minneapolis Fire leading the investigation and is on the scene with EMTs standing by should they be needed. There is no indication that anyone is in the cave. The parkway is closed down until the scene is cleared. The case number is 26-044567.
