Painter Park improvements: Construction update

The construction phase for improvements at Painter Park has seen good progress over the summer and fall.
Crews are finishing concrete work and features in the skate park, and it’s possible that asphalt for the sport courts and paths will be installed.
After some site cleanup and final grading, landscape plants and seed will be installed prior to winter.

How you can help: Please stay outside the construction area!

As work winds down for the season, it’s important for people to stay outside construction fencing – even if it looks like work is complete or “nothing’s going on.”
In fact, important processes are taking place. Materials like concrete and asphalt are curing (that is, toughening or hardening) and plant roots are establishing so new growth can begin next spring.

Next Steps

After pausing for winter, work will resume next year as soon as weather allows, and include turf seeding and establishment, along with color coating and striping for the courts.
We anticipate the project area and new features will open to the public in late spring. Stay tuned for information on an opening celebration!
