In an effort to maintain a diverse shoreline buffer that is rich in native plant species, MPRB will be continuing efforts to control invasive cattails at Loring Pond South Bay.
The MPRB’s contractor for invasive cattail control, Resource Environmental Solutions (RES), will begin work in early August that is expected to last approximately three days.
Park patrons may observe the contractor both cutting cattails as well as applying water-safe herbicide through the selective hand-wicking method. This is the first phase of a multi-year effort. The goal is to maintain the results of a similar project that began in 2015.
