Join us March 28 to celebrate a splashy project in Phillips

Please join the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and many Phillips Community Center supporters for a groundbreaking celebration on Tuesday, March 28 at 1 pm.

The event launches a renovation and expansion project that will add a new aquatics facility to the existing community center. The project includes the restoration of a six-lane pool, closed since 2008, and construction of a new four-lane teaching pool. When open in 2018, the Phillips Community Aquatics Center will serve as the MPRB’s only indoor facility for recreational, fitness and competitive swimming.

Join us for brief remarks from MPRB Superintendent Jayne Miller, Park Board Commissioners Scott Vreeland and John Erwin and other elected officials, as well as funders, partners, community members and others whose passion, dedication and generosity were instrumental in the success of this project.

Immediately following the ceremony, you can:

  • Get a tour of the pool before it closes for construction (the community center will remain open throughout construction)
  • Enjoy light refreshments
  • Learn more about the project, construction and 2018 re-opening
