The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) thanks everyone who has shared in developing theĀ 10- to 20-year vision plan for East Phillips Park!
Following feedback on three initial concepts for plan shared earlier this year, the project team has releasedĀ one final draft plan for the park [PDF] that:
- Incorporates favorite elements from the earlier concepts, based on community feedback
- Reflects what the community shared during engagement activities –Ā check out a summary of what MPRB heard [PDF]
- Reflects staff input, issues related to maintenance and site conditions at the park site, and goals fromĀ MPRBās Parks for All comprehensive plan [PDF]

Once again, weāre looking for East Phillips community members to weigh in and will be sharing the draft final vision plan for East Phillips Park in the coming weeks.

The project team will be out and about in the community to share the draft design and collect feedback. We will share details on additional opportunities when they are confirmed.
Whatās Next?
After MPRB staff complete this round of community engagement and updates the final design, everyone will be invited to a public presentation of the East Phillips Park design and a public hearing next year at a board meeting this winter or in spring 2026. MPRB Commissioners will then vote to approve the plan.
Once the plan is approved, MPRB will move forward to construct some of its improvements. These will be identified based on community feedback, priorities and the project budget. Construction is planned to begin in 2027.
About the East Phillips Open Spaces project
MPRB is working with community members to develop long-term vision plans for both Cedar Field Avenue Park and East Phillips Park in the East Phillips neighborhood.
