Join us at a March 21 open house on concepts for new recreational trail bridge over the Mississippi River

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) is moving forward on concept planning for a new bridge and gathering spaces for people walking, running, biking or rolling over the Mississippi River between North and Northeast Minneapolis. See details below.

Current and upcoming work

MPRB hosted two open houses and a site tour at the end of January, and has developed a set of concepts for the bridge crossing and the two park spaces on each side of the river.

The concepts were conceived using the feedback received during the project’s early visioning work, as well as from the open houses and site tour.

Concepts will be unveiled at a open house event on March 21 and online shortly after – see details below. Online options will follow for those who can’t attend.

December 2023 Visioning Summary

Feasibility Report – The MPRB and design team published this report following last year’s early visioning work, which looks at the physical, geographical, social, and environmental considerations for a new bridge crossing the Mississippi River in North and Northeast Minneapolis. Although there are some barriers to work through, primarily regulatory, the project is feasible.
