Five events planned over next 10 days to gather input on upcoming improvements at Father Hennepin Bluff Park

Public meetings include unique opportunity to learn Indigenous history at Native American Listening Session

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) just launched a new project aimed at improving park conditions in Father Hennepin Bluff Park. The MPRB dedicated $1 million for this project and it needs public input to help prioritize which of those improvements will be built in 2019.

Five events are scheduled over the next 10 days to hear from different groups who use the park and discuss various perspectives of the park, including a Native American Listening Session scheduled this Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, 1-3 pm.

The focus of this event is Dakota and Indigenous People’s History near Father Hennepin Bluff Park. It’s intended to broaden our definition of history and reconnect with nature and the importance of water and a sustainable landscape. It will be conducted in partnership with Healing Place Collaborative, an Indigenous-led group of artists, educators, researchers and activists.

All of the upcoming events are listed below. If you can’t make any of the focus groups, an online survey is linked below.
