Fall 2025 update on Girls Fastpitch Softball Improvements planned at Minneapolis Parks

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) has announced upcoming improvements to two Minneapolis park sites that support high school girls’ fastpitch softball. These enhancements reflect the MPRB’s ongoing commitment to providing equitable, high-quality facilities for girls’ athletics across the city.

At Neiman Sports Complex, the MPRB will upgrade Fields 3 and 4 with the installation of semi-permanent outfield fencing, creating field configurations that meet fastpitch softball standards. This fencing system—successfully used at Neiman during high school playoffs and at Bossen Field Park during the regular season—has proven to offer both durability and flexibility. Once complete, Fields 3 and 4 will meet MPRB’s Class One standards for play and maintenance and will be ready for girls’ high school fastpitch softball in Spring 2026.

At Bryn Mawr Meadows Park, the MPRB will reconfigure two fields to support high school girls’ fastpitch softball. Field improvements will begin in 2026, with play anticipated in 2027 following a successful turf grow-in period. Subsequent improvements outside the field of play will enhance the player and spectator experience. Upon completion, these fields will align with MPRB’s Class Two standards for play and maintenance.

Together, these projects underscore the MPRB’s dedication to expanding opportunities for girls in sports, ensuring that Minneapolis athletes have access to safe, competitive, and well-maintained fields that foster participation, growth, and community pride.
