With the help of a Hennepin County Youth Activities grant and MPRB Athletic Field Rehab funding, MPRB is implementing field improvements at Phelps Field Park.
Work includes:
- Improving grass coverage and quality
- Improving field drainage / minimize ponding areas within the field of play
- Installing irrigation to better sustain field grass conditions
- Soil decompaction
- If funding remains, update and extend field fencing for player safety
Fields will be closed for 2026 to allow for these improvements including establishment of the new grass.
