Last month, Commissioners for the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB) approved the concept plan for improvements at Bassett’s Creek Park.
These improvements will be made in the northern sections of the park in the Harrison neighborhood, and follow 2018 improvements in park areas south of the creek. They include:
- Improved creek access
- Naturalized areas and native plantings
- New loop trails
- New and refreshed sidewalks
- New play equipment and a refreshed play area
- New picnic shelter

Next Steps
After design plans are finalized, the project will go out to bid to construction contractors this winter. It is anticipated that construction will begin in spring or summer 2020.
