Check out the concept plan for improvements at the Lynnhurst Park playground!

Thanks to everyone who shared their ideas and provided feedback.

MPRB has developed a concept plan for the improvements project at the playground that will replace equipment and surfacing that is worn, difficult to maintain and at the end of its useful life.

The concept plan is based on feedback and priorities from the community as well as MPRB staff, along with site conditions and the project budget. It includes desired elements and addresses noted issues to the greatest extent possible. These include:

New play elements

    • a climbing boulder
    • imaginative play
    • structure geared to younger (2-5-year-old) children
    • accessible swing

Features based on popular elements from existing equipment

    • slider/zipline
    • multiple slides
    • monkey bars
    • sand play
    • existing swings – two sling-types and a tire swing – are in good condition and will be refurbished
    • small area for sand play in the 2-5 yr old play area

New surfacing that combines engineered wood fiber (playground mulch) and poured-in-place rubber

Timeline: The Board of Commissioners will consider approving the concept plan at their June 4 meeting; if approved, construction for the improvements is planned for Fall 2025.
