Beach Improvements at Lake Harriet and Lake Nokomis

MPRB intends to improve these two public beaches to ensure they are stable from fluctuating water levels, better accommodate required maintenance activities, while making improvements that provide standard beach amenities, meet critical life safety requirements and provide better means of ADA compliant access.  MPRB staff will provide guidance as to what should be provided as part of necessary standard beach amenities (i.e. signage, seating, shade), maintenance requirements, as well as identifying critical life safety requirements around lifeguarding and public notification for beach use which all need to be considered.  It may be necessary at both beach locations to examine whether trail segments should be realigned to better facilitate proposed beach improvements.
