Roof Repair and Replacement

Van Cleve Recreation Center roof replaced.

ROOF REPLACEMENTS

• Logan Recreation Center’s roof was completed in late February
• Cavell Park’s restroom building had its roof replaced, along with the non-brick portions of its siding, in a project completed over the winter.

Luxton Recreation Center: replacement of roof and siding replacement is planned for September, with completion in November.

2018 projects:

• Whittier, Longfellow and Brackett recreation center: roof replacement projects were completed.
• Logan Recreation Center – project on hold due to an unsuccessful bidding process.

These projects are funded by the 20-Year Neighborhood Park Plan (NPP20), a long-term initiative that reverses years of under-funding in neighborhood parks.

Brackett Recreation Center has a brand-new roof, and the replacement at Longfellow is well underway, with the gym portion of the building complete.

Whittier Recreation Center: construction begins June 11; expected completion in late August. During roof replacement for the recreation center gym, the gym, wading pool and part of the playground area will be closed; the rest of the recreation center and the park will remain open.

Longfellow Recreation Center: construction begins August 13 to replace flat roof; repair shingle roof; repair structural roof beam

Logan Recreation Center: construction begins August 6 and is expected to be complete in mid- to late October

Brackett Recreation Center: construction expected in fall 2018

North Minneapolis

• Northside Service Center: roof replacement complete
• Willard Park restroom building: roof replacement on hold

Northeast/southeast Minneapolis

• Logan Recreation Center: design for new shingle and flat roofs is underway, with construction expected in late summer 2018
• Beltrami Center: roof replacement complete

South Minneapolis

• Longfellow Recreation Center: replace flat roof, repair shingle roof, repair structural roof beam
• Brackett Recreation Center: design for a roof replacement is underway, with construction expected in fall 2018

Southwest Minneapolis

• Whittier Recreation Center: construction on the replacement for the gym roof is expected in summer 2018
