Background
The South Side Area Master plan was completed and approved by MPRB in 2016.
Phelps park was allotted $900,000 of NPP20 funding for 2018 and an additional $500,000 of funding for 2019.
The Master Plan for Phelps Park prioritized replacing the wading pool with a splash pad and replacing the playground with upgraded play areas including a tot lot, school age play area and an adult fitness area.
Our project team has been meeting with small groups to discuss their ideas about the Phelps Park Master plan.
We’ve held design meetings with the Boys and Girls Club, Local childcare centers, Local Businesses, the Bryant Neighborhood Organization and the planners of the South Side Back in the Day event.
We will continue to meet with Neighborhood and Community stakeholders and will use their input as the basis for the final design of the park.
Final designs will be ready for review in early August.
