A public hearing on the final proposed concept plan for a new bike skills park near Minnehaha Creek and 34th Avenue S.
Background & Funding
Background
This project will transform three banks of tennis courts, all currently in very poor condition, along Minnehaha Creek between Lake Hiawatha and Minnehaha Regional Park. One bank of courts has been converted into a pollinator lawn (30th).
The courts at 32nd Avenue South have been demolished and seeded with native plants as fundraising takes place to build clay tennis courts with Minneapolis Community Clay Courts. Visit letsplayclay.org to get involved.
The courts at 34th Avenue South have been demolished and a bike skills park is scheduled to begin construction by the end of 2025. The transformation of these courts over time follows the Board adopted long-term plan for Minnehaha Parkway Regional Trail.
Funding
30th Avenue Courts
This project is complete and funding is scheduled into operations and maintenance activities.
