Youth Program Fees

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) shifts to a new youth program fee structure beginning with summer program registration on March 5.

Previously, the MPRB offered multiple options to families needing financial assistance, including scholarships, fee assistance, and free programs for people ages 18 and under at select parks. These options are being consolidated into a more straightforward, inclusive, and accessible model.

  • All programs will be listed at their actual cost calculated through a new formula that accounts for staff wages, materials and other considerations.
  • Discounted rates are available for youth under the age of 18.
  • There are no fee discounts for non-residents.
  • Families can choose a price that aligns with their financial situation.
  • Fee discount choices for Minneapolis residents are 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%.
  • Discounts are based on yearly household income and family size.

This new approach ensures all young people have access to enriching recreation and environmental programs regardless of financial barriers.
