20 parks will offer general skating, hockey and/or broomball rinks this season

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board opens ice rinks on Saturday, December 21, 2024!
General skating, hockey and/or broomball rinks will be offered at 20 parks this year. All outdoor rinks are free to use, open to the public, offer a warming room (most have loaner skates to borrow) and have lights until at least 9 pm. Sites with broomball are lit until 10:15 pm: Logan, Longfellow, McRae, Shingle Creek, and Van Cleve.
There are a few parks with later opening dates:
- Linden Hills Park ice rinks open Monday, December 23
- Longfellow Park broomball and general rinks opens December 21, the hockey rink opens December 24.
- McRae Park hockey opens December 21, broomball opens Tuesday, December 24

Warming Rooms
Every site has a warming room where people can get ready to enjoy the rinks or rest and warm up. Most warming rooms have an assortment of free loaner skates to borrow. If you have skates you’d like to donate, please contact your local recreation center.
Warming Room Hours
Monday-Friday: 5-9 pm
Saturdays and School Release Days: 12-9 pm
(School Release Days are December 23-27; December 30-January 3; January 20, 24; February 14, 17)
Sundays: 1-5 pm
Warming Room Holiday Hours
December 24, 31: 12-4 pm
December 25, January 1: All Warming Rooms closed. Ice not maintained.
