After hearing from community this week, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is restoring general skating and one hockey rink at Windom NE for the 2024/25 season. Accordingly, the ice plan for this season in Northeast Minneapolis is:
- Windom NE Park – One hockey and general skate
- Logan Park – Two broomball and general skate
- Van Cleve Park – One hockey, one broomball and general skate
The Powderhorn and Webber NSP rinks will remain closed for 2024/25, and ice rinks will be evaluated with the plan for up to an additional three ice rink closures for the 2025/2026 season. Sites are chosen based on costs associated with construction of rinks, renting warming house structures, and the challenges of maintaining the ice with the changing climate.
