07-14-24 Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Strike Statement

Early Sunday morning, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) received Local 363’s counteroffer to MPRB’s last best and final offer made on July 1.

Local 363’s counteroffer was a total package offer, indicating that a rejection of any portion constitutes a rejection of the entire proposal.

The MPRB asked for a substantial and meaningful proposal. Local 363’s new proposal costs $1 million more in 2024 than their previous proposal and costs $800,000 more overall.

The previous Local 363 three-year proposal cost was $6.7 million. The proposal received today will cost $7.5 million.

The MPRB’s last, best, and final offer included a 10.25% wage increase over three years plus market adjustments for 13 positions (178 employees) and contract language changes. The MPRB’s offer costs $4.6 million over three years.

Due to previous wage scales and increases, the proposed MPRB increase exceeds the total wage package of the City of Minneapolis 363 Local workers over the same three-year period.

Local 363’s counter proposal has moved the wages and compensation portion further apart. Significant differences in contract language also remain.

The MPRB looks forward to returning to negotiations at the Bureau of Mediation Services.
