Posted on 15 September, 2023A second public hearing on a proposal to rename the Chalet at Theodore Wirth Regional Park to “Eddie Manderville Chalet at Theodore Wirth Park” is scheduled Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 5:45 pm in the Board Room at Mary Merrill Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) Headquarters, 2117 West River Road.
Manderville’s contributions to the sport of golf focused on desegregation and teaching the sport to people of color. He was affiliated with the Theodore Wirth Golf Course for more than 60 years and is widely renowned for his contributions to Minneapolis golf. Manderville passed away in 2020 at the age of 88.

Next Steps
This is the second public hearing of two required by the MPRB Naming Policy. The first public hearing was on April 6, 2022. The Naming Policy dictates that the Board of Commissioners wait two years to take a final vote on the nomination.
