Because many seasonal lifeguards have left for school, high school sports or other obligations, MPRB is ceasing lifeguard services at Bde Maka Ska Thomas Beach, Lake Nokomis Main Beach, and Wirth Lake Beach after Monday, August 28.
All current lifeguard staff will be committed to keeping Jim Lupient Water Park, North Commons Water Park and Webber Natural Swimming Pool open for regularly scheduled hours through Labor Day, Monday September 4.
All all 12 Minneapolis beaches remain open for public use during regular park hours, 6 am to 10 pm daily, but will not be guarded after August 28.
