Webber Natural Swimming Pool closure
The Webber Natural Swimming Pool (NSP) is temporarily closed effective Tuesday, August 15. Both the upper and lower pools are closed.
The MPRB’s regular sampling of bacteria found that Enterococci and E coli levels exceeded its standards for natural swimming pools.
The MPRB will re-sample the Webber NSP after additional maintenance. When the bacteria levels are within MPRB standards for natural swimming pools, the pool will reopen.
Beach closures
Effective Tuesday, August 15, Lake Hiawatha Beach, Bde Maka Ska 32nd Street Beach and Cedar Lake Point Beach are closed (or remain closed), due to last Friday’s intense storms and significant rain on Sunday.
Bacteria levels at Bde Maka Ska 32nd Street Beach exceeded the one-day standard; it will be re-tested Wednesday and could potentially re-open later this week.
Bacteria levels at Lake Hiawatha and Cedar Lake Point beaches exceeded the longer term standard, and will not be re-tested until next week.

Swim healthy!
- Don’t swim if you or your child have diarrhea or are sick
- Be careful to not get lake water in your mouth
- Wash your hands before eating and after changing a diaper
- Avoid swimming after a rainfall: high bacterial levels in lakes generally return to normal levels within 48 hours of a rainfall
- Towel dry immediately after exiting the water to prevent Swimmer’s Itch
- When it doubt, stay out: Do not swim or play in water with blue-green algae
